Why photos discolour

Sticky “magnetic” albums from the 1970s and 80s yellow and stain the photos in them. Tape, glue, smoke and damp do the same.

Black and white prints turn yellow or brown. Colour prints drift yellow, green or magenta.

What we do

On a digital copy, we remove yellowing, colour casts and stains, and restore natural skin tones.

Black and white photos can go back to neutral, or keep a warm tone if you prefer. Tell us in your quote request.

If it’s stuck in an album

Leave it there and don’t peel off tape. Photograph it in daylight, without flash.

Common questions

Can you remove tape stains?

Yes, from the restored copy. Leave the tape on the original.

Can a brown black and white photo go back to black and white?

Yes, or we can keep a warm tone. Your choice.

Will the colours look natural?

Yes. If the colour is almost gone we may need to colourise it, which is an approximation unless you tell us the original colours.
